A Pictorial Summary of our favourite form of exercise…

by Umm Muawiyah

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum.

In the last Ramadan  2011 Prep Tip, I mentioned how important fitness was and how unfit the majority of mankind is.

Most of us don’t exercise much.

However, there is one type of exercise that all of us seem to indulge in:

Ah yes.

Twiddle, twiddle, twiddle…..

At least the blood circulation in our hands will improve…

[Of course, a certain group of people twiddle their thumbs more than others…]

It’s no wonder that we have no time. We’re too busy twiddling our thumbs…

Is it permissible to post animated figures like that? I know there are aahadeeth that roughly say if you remove a part of the body because of which the person would die, (like the head), then thats fine. But why risk? Not all know about the intricate rulings on this and might take wrong message.. wallaahu ‘alam. As-salaamu ‘alaiykum

      Assalamu Alaikum.

Well, this doesn’t come under the ruling of “tasweer” because the hadeeth specifically states “The picture (soorah) is the head. If the head is cut off, then there is no soorah.” Here’s the authentication of the hadeeth:

Risk? I appreciate your advice, Brother, but I’ve already checked the ruling on drawing feet and hands. I didn’t find any place (so far) where is said that it was not permitted. They all pointed out that there should be no face, which is why I have never posted anything with a face on any of my blogs.

Well, if someone does not know an intricate ruling, it is upon them to ask and it is upon those who know to share what they know.

      Allahu alam.
