An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 21

Assalamu Alaikum.

[Here’s Day 20.]

[Note#1: This series started last Ramadan so for those who missed it, here’s Day 1.

Note #2: I made a mistake in yesterday’s post (which I corrected now). The ayah (verse) mentioned after the ayah about Ramadan is the one in Surah Al-Baqarah, not the one in Surah Al-Ghafir. May Allah reward the sister who pointed this out to me.]

9. Why do we need to know about shirk (polytheism) in dua (supplication) if we’re only calling upon Allah alone?

a) A thing is known through its opposite.

We won’t truly understand what “dry” is until we know what “wet” is.

We won’t truly understand what “hot” is until we know what “cold” is.

In the same way, we won’t understand the beauty of tawheed (worshipping Allah alone) if we don’t understand the ugliness of shirk (attributing partners to Allah).

Also, knowing what shirk is, will protect us from falling into it.

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 18

Assalamu Alaikum.

Let’s summarise what we learnt about Allah in this section. [That would be Day 10  – Day 17.]

a) He is the One who provides.

We need to remember this fact all time ESPECIALLY when Shaytaan (the devil) tries to stop us from giving in charity:

قُلْ إِنَّ رَ‌بِّي يَبْسُطُ الرِّ‌زْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَقْدِرُ‌ لَهُ ۚ وَمَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ‌ الرَّ‌ازِقِينَ

“Say: “Truly, my Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and (also) restricts (it) for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah’s Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers.” [Surah Saba (34) : 39]

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 17

Assalamu Alaikum.

c) Al-Haseeb (the One who takes account; the Reckoner)

Al-Haseeb is the one who is Sufficient for all His Slaves. He is the one recompenses (i.e. rewards) with them with either good or bad (depending on which on which one they deserve).

The proof for this Name is as follows:

وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا أَوْ رُ‌دُّوهَا ۗ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَسِيبًا

“When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally. Certainly, Allah is Ever a Careful Account Taker of all things.” [Surah An-Nisaa (4) :86]

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 15

Assalamu Alaikum.

[Note: I haven’t forgotten to reply to all your comments. It’s on my to-do list (along with a whole bunch of other stuff…).]

So, Allah says that because He is the Ever Living One, we need to put our trust in Him.

Think about it. Anyone else that we might depend upon like a family member, a friend, etc is just a created being who is going to die one day.

And what happens if they die BEFORE us?

Are we going to rely upon someone else?

And what happens if they too die BEFORE us?

See how it goes? None of them can be relied upon completely.

Allah, on the other hand, will never die so we should feel completely relaxed and put our trust in Him.

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 10

Assalamu Alaikum.

[This post picks up from where yesterday’s post left off.]

6) There is a difference between the Names of Allah and His Attributes.

[Note: I’m translating this portion from my teacher Ustadh Azeez Farhan’s class notes on Aqeedah Al-Wasitiyyah.

Haven’t heard of him, say the UAE folks? That’s sad because he’s one of the most knowledgeable people in the country.

Obviously, he lectures in Arabic. Here’s his website.]

What is the difference?

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 8

Assalamu Alaikum.

Okay, I’ll pick up from where I left off yesterday.

So, the question was why a murderer who applied tawheed would eventually enter Paradise but a kind, generous disbeliever (meaning he did not apply tawheed) would never enter Paradise.

This is an issue that many people cannot understand and I’ll tell you why. It’s because they look at it from their perspective – therefore murder seems worse than shirk.

However, one needs to ask what the worst sin is, in the SIGHT OF ALLAH. Then one can get the correct perspective.

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 7

Assalamu Alaikum.

[Please excuse the bad editing. WordPress tends to behave like a drama queen sometimes.]

8. He is the One who has prohibited that any partners be attributed to Him in any way whatsoever and He will not forgive the one who dies attributing partners to Him.

Let’s go though this step by step:

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 6

Assalamu Alaikum.

[Note: You can now access the site at http://thegreatestmonth.com instead of https://thegreatestmonth.wordpress.com (which still works but takes longer to type!)]

[It seems that everyone ran away again. I suppose it’s a good thing that I’m used to talking to myself…]

Day 6 continues from where I left off yesterday.

In this part, I’m just going to talk about the meaning of ibaadah (worship), because this is essential for understanding the purpose of life, and one must understand this point if one wishes to get closer to the Lord of the Worlds.

It seems there was some confusion about what ibaadah is so let’s do this step by step.

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 5

Assalamu Alaikum.

7. He is the One who created us to worship Him alone.

Allah says:

“And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). “ [Surah Ad-Dhaariyat (51) : 56]

What can we learn from the above ayah (verse)?
