Yes, Shaytan (the devil) is locked up during Ramadan but what about the other 11 months?
Well, the good news is that he tends to use the same tricks over and over again.
The bad news is that he manages to hoodwink us even with the reused tactics.
The problem is that most of us aren’t aware of his tactics. Once we understand them, then we will be more prepared to fight his whispers, insha-Allah.
Here’s a good book on this topic entitled Exposing Shaytan by Sister Shawana Aziz.
[Click on the image to download the book.]
I haven’t read the whole book but it pretty much covers everything (as far as I can see) including why he wants to mislead us, his tricks and ways to save ourselves.
If anyone is interested in reading more about this topic, please let me know as I have a few more e-books that I can post, insha-Allah.
Book: Islamic Principles for the Muslim’s Attitude During Fitan (trials, tribulations, afflictions, calamities)
Yes, I’m back – and exactly two weeks later as promised (not that anyone cares but still…).
You might be thinking “Huh? She’s back with a book about trials and tribulations after Eid?”
Yes, because Eid always reminds me of trials and tribulations.
Another reason is because I’ve noticed that an increasing number of people (who happen to be religiously inclined) are drowning due to the trials and tribulations that they’re facing. If this is what happens to the religiously inclined, I’d hate to see how fast the non-religiously inclined ones are drowning.
Remember: It doesn’t matter what we lose of this dunya (worldly life) but we CANNOT afford to lose out on the hereafter and that wonderful house in Paradise that’s waiting for us.
So, I hope that this book will be of benefit to all of us, insha-Allah.
Please close that door and just read this book for the next hour and ponder over it.
Then you’ll understand that ignorance is not bliss, however knowledge is.
Here’s the book: Islamic Principles for the Muslim’s Attitude During Fitan (trials, tribulations, afflictions, calamities) by Shaikh Salih ibn Abdul Aziz Aal Ash-Shaikh
May Allah keep us safe from all fitan. Ameen.
Finally what, you ask?
Finally, someone came out with a lecture entitled “Ramadan and Tawheed”.
I had already found an article entitled “Hajj and Tawheed” (check this post).
Now, all I need to do is find something on “Salah and Tawheed” and “Zakaah and Tawheed”, and I’ll be over the moon.
[If not, then I’ll just write on those topics myself, insha-Allah.]
Why is it so important? Because the last 4 pillars of Islam are different ways of implementating the first pillar of Islam, which is the statement of tawheed (worshipping Allah alone).
Sadly, many Muslims have no clue what tawheed is. They think that it is confined to knowing that there is one god.
Nope. There’s so much more to it than that.
When I was teaching my students about tawheed, one of my students asked (after seeing all the evidence for tawheed), “Why don’t they talk about this?”
Because Shaytan doesn’t want anyone to? If we know what tawheed is and we implement it, we’ll be happy in this world and we’ll get Paradise in the next. He doesn’t want that. He wants us to apply shirk (the opposite of tawheed) so that we can all be in hell with him.
Think I’m joking? Please read the story of Adam (alaihissalam) and Iblis. Then you’ll understand that the real battle going on in the world is the battle between tawheed and shirk.
Ramadan is the 4th Pillar of Islam. It depends on two pillars that come before it: the 1st pillar (i.e. the Shahaadah) and the 2nd pillar (i.e. Salaah).
How many people say the Shahaadah and sadly, how very few people understand it. How do we know that? By their actions. Their actions are contrary to the essence of this testimony.
Islam has five pillars. Iman has six: Belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, The Last Day and Qadr (Pre-destination) (all of them fall under the Shahaadah, by the way). These may seem quite basic at first, but I assure you that you could write millions of volumes on just these six pillars. And no, I’m not joking – all my students will attest to that. They realised after studying these pillars that there’s a whole new world out there.
So, what do we do now? We learn about them, of course.
For all those who complain about 1) the lack of resources in English 2) the expense of Islamic classes or 3) lack of transport, try this website:
It’s got FREE books (very good quality), audios, videos, and magazines! They also have some free courses. What more do you need?
Please, please, please, please, please go through the QSEP website and start doing some of the courses. Don’t say that you know everything because the people of knowledge do not say this – it’s only the extremely ignorant ones who would allow such words to escape from their lips.
The QSEP website focuses on tawheed (worshipping Allah alone) and trust me, once you learn about this, your eyes will open. All my students pointed out how glad they were to learn about tawheed – because it was the answer to all their problems and touched upon every aspect of their lives.
And please inform everybody about the website as well. You’ll get the reward for it.
